About The River & The Sea

Palestinian stories about water and healing

World Opera Lab & Fragments Theatre from Jenin in a new collaboration around Palestinian heritage, water and rituals.

Artistic director and artist Rawand Arqawi from Jenin will come to Amsterdam for a residency, collaborating with an incredible collective of Palestinian and Dutch female artists; stage-director Miranda Lakerveld, visual artist Mary-Ann Jaraysi, writer and performer Rasha Hilwi, anthropologist Ritta Al Asadi, singer Sabra Al Bahri Khatri, Arabist Sylva van Rosse and percussionist Wendy Palomeque.


The laboratory takes place from 26 September till 2 October, in proud collaboration with A Beautiful mess in Amsterdam. During this period there are four public events where the artists share their findings with the audience; an open studio and conversation about cultural survival on the 28th of September and an open studio and conversation about cultural heritage and mental health on the 30th of September. The artists aim to create a new interactive healing ritual which will be shared on the 1st and 2nd of October.
